my parents sent me to sgh to check my ear on saturday morning. cuz i've been slightly deaf ever since returning from aus, isn't that kinda freaky?
it's wierd la. when i breathed out forcefully, my right ear would pop. i also heard internal sounds like my heartbeat and my stomach churning.
he gave some lengthy diagnosis, saying like some buildup of earwax and possible infection which might lead to permanent damage bla bla to scare us a bit.
in the end he just popped some water in my ear, sealed it, waited for 20 min for it to loosen the wax, then sucked it out. even worse, he used some endoscopy thing where we could see what he was doing inside the ear on a tv screen. so i saw some black gooey thing coming out of my ear.
i tried not to look.
but the most interesting part was after the procedure. maybe you'd expect everything to be crystal clear, pleasant and refreshing. it was not.
everything was definitely a lot louder. but, it sounded different. i felt like i was in some video game, with headphones on. things just sounded... hollow. my own voice sounded like it was garbled through a microphone. it was quite scary.
things like the slam of the car door and ring of the bell made me jump. i woke up with a fright this morning when my hp vibrated on the table. and thought it was raining in the morning, when it was really just the water flowing in the longkang.
i'll need to get used to this new feeling.
